Welding is essential to the development and advancement of many industries. It is hard to name an industry that does not employ some type of welding today. At Fresno City College the Welding technology department has trained many students in the expanding field of welding. FCC can train and certify a student interested in these types of welding, SMAW (Shield Metal-Arc Welding) STICK, GMAW (Gas Metal-Arc Welding) MIG, FCAW (Flux Cored-Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten-Arc Welding) TIG, Flame and Plasma cutting, Fabrication, & Pipe and Structural Steel Certification. Students learn about safety equipment operation, and the setting-up process, joint design and welding terms and the essential art of welding aluminum, steel and stainless steel. Welding Technology provides an opportunity for students to prepare for employment in welding and metal working occupations. Specific preparation is provided in welded metal fabrication or pipe and structural steel certification procedures.
