Nuts Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT), the charitable foundation of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA), is excited to announce a five-year partnership with Alro Steel Foundation of Jackson, Mich. The support Alro Steel Foundation has pledged will be the largest gift from a single donor in NBT’s history. The duration of the $500,000 donation will span five years, beginning in 2024. NBT intends to utilize the funds to strengthen its infrastructure and, building on the success of NBT’s manufacturing camp programs, increase efforts to expand programming in states and regions across the country, with a particular emphasis on increasing the number of camps in the Midwest. 

Alro Steel is deeply dedicated to both the industry and its community. The Michigan-based metals distributor has long been a strong supporter of youth education, including playing host to MFG Day events which introduce and inspire high school students to consider manufacturing as a lifelong career. 

The gift demonstrates Alro Steel’s commitment to NBT’s mission to build tomorrow’s manufacturing workforce. “We are thrilled to partner with Alro Steel’s charitable foundation,” said Ed Dernulc, NBT Foundation Director. “Their generosity towards initiatives that support youth programs and assist with manufacturing education is a natural fit with the mission of NBT. We are truly excited about how this support will accelerate skills training programs like our new inclusion camp model and continue the growth of traditional summer manufacturing camps.”
