• The number of metal forming machine tools under 10 years old has increased 9 percent since 1989.
  
• The number of metal forming machine tools over 20 years old has decreased 5 percent since 1989.
  
• The survey results support the findings of previous surveys that reported machine tools were shifting to smaller shops.
