Q: Can I hook up more than one computer to view a FabCast program?
A: The registration fee covers one weblink for one computer.  Additional links would require additional registration fees.  However, you can have multiple persons view the FabCast from that single link.  Also, only one teleconference connection is permitted per registration.
Q: Do I have to install any special software to view FabCast?
A: It is strongly recommended but not necessary.  In the e-mail you receive after registering, you will see a clickable link for first time users toward the end of the message.  This link is for downloading Microsoft LiveMeeting’s Windows-based Meeting Console, which is basically a program that opens when you log on and allows you to utilize all the features of a webcast.  You can view the webcast using just your browser, however.  You will be given a choice when logging on whether to use the Windows-based console or a web console.  Consult your IT department if you have any questions or rules about downloading software at your organization.  Also keep in mind you will need an up-to-date web browser.
Q: Can I record a FabCast program?
A: No.  All FabCast materials are copyright of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association.  The session is recorded to CD-ROM and these are available for sale from FMA.  The cost of one of these CD-ROMs is $50 for members and $75 for non-members.  Handouts can be printed from the CD-ROM.
Q: My company has a firewall in place. Can I still view a FabCast?
A: Yes.  Consult your IT department to make sure you will have the ability to connect to the FabCast.  Also, some pop-up blocking and virus scanning software may need to be disabled in order for you to view a FabCast.  Again, check with your IT department.
Q: Can I use my LCD projector and speaker phone to view a FabCast?
A: Absolutely.  You will connect your computer to the projector exactly as you would if you were delivering a PowerPoint presentation, only with FabCast you will be using your web browser and the speaker phone will provide audio from the presenter.  It is strongly recommended that you use a high-quality speaker phone to obtain optimum audio quality.
Q: Audio quality is bad or volume is low.  What can I do?
A: Contact Technical Support at 1-866-427-5234.  If you are using a low-quality speaker phone, there is not much that can be done.  Switch to a handset or find a better quality speaker phone.
Q: I want my entire department to view the FabCast. Is there any extra charge?
A: No.  The single registration fee covers as many people as you can fit into your venue.  Keep in mind that this also lowers the per person training cost.  For example, if the registration fee is $100 and 20 people view the FabCast using your conference room LCD projector and speaker phone, your training cost is only $5 per person.
Q: Can I use an auditorium to view the FabCast?
A: Yes, but you must make sure the audio system will be able to handle a telephone input and deliver its audio at an acceptable quality.  It is recommended that this set-up be tested before attempting to use it.  Also, keep in mind that voice interactivity will be limited with this type of set-up.
Q: I lost my e-mailed log-in instructions. What do I do?
A: Contact a Education Products Specialist at 1-888-394-4362 or email education@fmanet.org.
Q: What equipment do I need to participate in a FabCast?
A: All you need is a computer with an internet connection and a telephone.
Q: How early can I log in to the FabCast?
A: You can log on as early as 30 minutes before the start time of the program. This should give you plenty of time for troubleshooting, if needed.
Q: I will be using a different computer than the one on which I received my e-mail instructions. How do I log on?
A: There are two ways: either forward the e-mail instructions to an account that can be accessed on that computer or print out the instructions and take the hard copy with you. In this case, rather than clicking on the link, you will have to type the information into your web browser.
Q: The person who registered for the FabCast is not in the office the day of the program. What should I do?
A: At least an hour prior to the start of the FabCast, you may contact Jen Christian at FMA at (815) 227-8207 or via email at jen@fmanet.org and you will receive a new set of instructions.  Keep in mind that you will need to provide the registrant’s name.
Q: How long will the FabCast last?
A: A program will typically last about 90 minutes, with roughly the first hour dedicated to the presentation and the last half hour to a Q&A session.  Also, be sure to note that all start times are expressed in Central Time.
Q: Where is the FabCast held?
A: At your office computer, your conference room, or even your home computer.  Anywhere you have access to a computer, an internet connection, and a telephone, you can participate in a FabCast.
Q: I am going to be calling from Canada. Will I have problems calling in or logging on?
A: No. You should be able to log on and call in normally.
Q: How do I ask my question during the FabCast?
A: If you have questions during the presentation, the best way to ask is to type your question into the text box at the bottom of the LiveMeeting console window, then click Submit.  Only the presenters and moderator will be able to see your question.  During Q&A, you can either type your question or you can use your telephone to ask a question vocally.  And, yes, the other attendees will hear you ask your question.
Q: My screen just went to the screen saver, but I am still hooked in to the audio conference. What should I do?
A: Wiggle your mouse. Chances are your computer just went to sleep.
Q: My browser just crashed, but I am still hooked in to the audio conference. What should I do?
A: Restart the browser (or computer if necessary), then repeat the log on process. If that doesn't work, contact Technical Support.
Q: Why doesn't FabCast utilize streaming audio over the web?
A: Two big reasons are: that some participants may not have a sound card in their computer, and streaming audio takes up a lot of bandwidth, which may slow down the presentation. As technologies progress, however, new developments may make it feasible to deliver audio over the web, as well.
Q: How do I get my presentation handouts?
A: Instructions will be sent to you as to how to download and print the handouts a few days prior to the program.
Q: The program is over. Now what should I do?
A: Simply close your browser window and hang up your phone. That's it.
