Six Sigma Certificate Online Training
FMA has teamed up with the University of Michigan to bring our members and the forming and fabricating industry online training for six sigma. Six Sigma professionals work solo and in teams to drive variability and cost out of manufacturing and service processes. In addition to outstanding instruction from UM, participants benefit from the “anytime/anyplace” format of learning. All the training is pre-recorded, allowing viewing from work, home, or when you’re on the road. Successful participants will earn the UM Certificate in either green or black belt.
What is a Green Belt?
Green Belts work in teams to complete six sigma projects directed by six sigma black belts. Typical training length for green belts is one week plus testing and project work.

What is a Black Belt?
Black belts both teach and lead teams of green belts. They also identify project scope and coach. Typical training length is 3-4 weeks plus testing and project work.

About the Instructor
Pat Hammett, Ph.D.,
Program Co-Director University of Michigan, Adjunct Professor, and Research Scientist
Dr. Pat Hammett is the Manager of the Manufacturing Systems Group for the Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation and serves as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering. His research focus involves developing and implementing world-class manufacturing, quality, and process validation strategies in the production and development of the automotive body. Dr. Hammett also teaches courses in quality engineering and management at the University of Michigan. Dr. Hammett received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. Prior to his work at the University of Michigan, Dr. Hammett worked as a manufacturing supervisor and quality engineer for General Motors.
